Indigo NXT & Indigo Firmware Download:



Indigo NXT: (7.7 & 6.5) UI100, (7.7 & 8.0) UI200 
Indigo:  (E" 2.052 & "G" 4.027 & "H" 5.014 Indigo Control Board Firmware Revision)

(One Download for both the original Indigo and Newly released Indigo NXT). 

Common reasons for updating firmware include adding features to the Indigo Ice machine in lieu of changing the control board. Please exercise caution if you attempt to update the firmware yourself, Manitowoc Ice & Beverage encourages the use of Certified Service Agents to install these updates to avoid down-time and problems.        

Current Indigo & Indigo NXT Control Board Firmware

Step One: Format a 2 GB (or less) USB flash drive according to Parts Service Communicator MII-070.  NOTE:  2 GB (or less) limitation on USB flash dirve size only applies to the "E" Indigo Control Board.  All other control boards have a limitation of 32 GB (or less).  For further specifications on USB Flash Drive sizes or formatting, please visit the "Flash Drive Formatting".  

Step Two: Download and save the zip folder of Firmware from this website to your computer. Unzip the to a folder on your computer.

Step Three: Copy the (16) firmware files from your computer to USB flash drive. Do not place these files into a folder on your flash drive as the ice machine will not look in a folder for its files.

Step Four: Take USB flasdrive to an Indigo Ice Machine and update firmware through the USB port on the ice machine control board.

Step 1:  You must use a formatted 2 GB or smaller Flash drive  for the E Indigo Control Board, 32 GB or Less for all other according to Service Communicator.   

Caution:  Not following this procedure may impede the upgrade process.

Note:  The following instruction for Upgrading Firmware applies to upgrades for the Indigo E, G, and H Control boards. At a Windows Based Computer (PC)

Step 2: Download Firmware from website, www.manitowocice.com to your computer.

Step 3: Insert 2 GB or Smaller Flash drive for E Indigo Control Board, 32 GB or Less for all other Control Boards, into computer and Format according to Parts and Service Communicator MII-070 (06/11)

Step 4: Open Firmware Zip and then open the folder.

Do not change or rename the files as that will impede the upgrade process.
1. Copy the 16 files and paste them onto your properly sized and formatted flash drive.
*Note: All revisions (for Indigo E, G ,H and Indigo NXT Firmware) will be loaded onto one flash drive. The Indigo Ice Machine control board will automatically select and load the correct file from the flash drive.

Step 5: Remove Flash drive from computer (suggestion: mark flash drive with the firmware revision to identify at a later date.)

Step 6:  Go to Indigo or Indigo NXT ice machine and follow the downloaded instructions for upgrading firmware.  

Indigo USB Flash Drive Specifications & Formatting

Updating firmware on Indigo model ice machines requires a properly formatted 2 GB or smaller USB flash drive. All

USB flash drives must be formatted before use to remove any software programs or files currently on the flash drive.
 

USB Flash Drive Specifications:

  • USB 2 Version
  • 2 GB or less capacity for "E" Indigo Control Board, 32 GB or Less for all other.
  • Fat32 File System
  • 512 MB File Allocation Unit

(MII-070 Parts and Service Communicator)

Windows 7 or Windows Vista Computers:

1. Insert USB flash drive; your computer may indicate:
 
  • Found New Hardware” follow the prompts to install the USB flash drive
  • USB flash drive may auto play - Close auto play window

2. Press Windows Key and E key simultaneously to access windows explorer.
3. Right click on your USB Flash Drive.
4. Left click on “Format”.
5. Verify or select the settings below:
 
  • USB flash drive capacity - 2 GB or less for "E" Indigo Control Board, 32 GB or Less for all other.
  • File System - Fat32
  • Allocation Unit Size - Must be 512 MB
  • Volume Label is Optional - Rename if desired
  • Deselect “Perform A Quick Format” (no checkmark)

6. Left click on “Start” - You will receive a warning - “Formatting will remove all data” left click “OK”. A “Format Complete” box will display when formatting is finished. Close the pop up and windows explorer.

Windows XP Computers:

1. Insert USB flash drive; your computer may indicate:
 
  • Found New Hardware” follow the prompts to install the USB flash drive
  • USB flash drive may auto launch - Close auto launch window.

2. To access Disk Management:
  • Left click on the Windows Start Button
  • Left click on “Run”
  • Type compmgmt.msc and left click on “OK”
  • Left click on “Disk Management”.

3. Verify USB flash drive capacity is 2 GB or lessfor "E" Indigo Control Board, 32 GB or Less for all other.
4. Right click on the USB flash drive, then left click on “Format” from the drop down list.
5. Verify or select the settings below:
 
  • Volume Label is Optional - Rename if desired
  • File System - Fat32
  • Allocation Unit Size must be 512 MB
  • Deselect “Perform A Quick Format” (no checkmark)

6. Left click on “OK” you will receive a warning - “Formatting will remove all data” left click on “OK”, wait until formatting is complete and “status” indicates “Healthy”, then close the disk
